What to Expect?
The arrival of Georgina, the seventh named storm to hit the UK in 2017/2018 meant Essex had to put up with gale-force winds and stormy showers. With the blistering cold temperatures, it’s likely that your heating was put to full use and kept you toasty and warm… It may be worth checking your heating tonight, or you might be left feeling rather chilly, as Essex is once again expecting snow! Be aware of any damage that may have been sustained during Storm Georgina, any cracks that have formed will be made worse by the ice that is likely to form during and after the snowfall.
Temperatures are predicted to fall rapidly and welcome a flurry of snow showers which are likely to be followed by rain and sleet. The Met Office has issued warnings about travel in some areas as this early morning sleet and snow is likely to reduce how effective treatments like gritting are.
After the Snow
Following the spells of rain, sleet and snow the skies are likely to clear. This means temperatures will once again drop and cause hazardous ice. So please travel carefully!
